Who it’s for

Is the CDCP right for you?

The plan is built for Canadians who don’t have dental coverage and whose household income is under a set limit. You likely qualify if all four of these are true:

  • You have no access to private dental insurance, through work, a family member’s work, a pension, or a plan you bought
  • You, and your spouse or partner if you have one, filed Canadian taxes last year
  • Your adjusted family net income is under $90,000
  • You’re a Canadian resident for tax purposes

How it helps

Care that keeps small problems small

Many people put off the dentist because of cost, and that’s how a cavity turns into a root canal. The CDCP is designed to make routine and necessary care affordable, so you can fix things early.

Some treatments need approval from the CDCP before the work is done, and not every request is approved. Braces and other orthodontic care are not currently covered. Call us and we’ll talk through your situation.

What you pay

Your cost depends on your household income

The CDCP pays a share of its own set fee schedule. The lower your income, the more the plan covers.

Adjusted family net income CDCP covers You pay
Under $70,000 100% 0%
$70,000 to $79,999 60% 40%
$80,000 to $89,999 40% 60%

Extra costs can apply if your income is between $70,000 and $89,999, if a fee is higher than what the CDCP reimburses, or if you choose a service the plan doesn’t cover. Call us before treatment so you know what to expect.

Good to know

CDCP questions

Do you accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan?

Yes. Oakridge Family Dental welcomes patients covered by the CDCP. Tell us when you book and we’ll work to make your visit smooth.

Who is eligible for the CDCP?

You need no access to private dental coverage, filed Canadian taxes (you and your spouse or partner, if you have one), an adjusted family net income under $90,000, and Canadian residency for tax purposes.

How much will I pay with the CDCP?

It depends on your income. Under $70,000 the plan covers 100% of its established fees. At $70,000 to $79,999 it covers 60%, and at $80,000 to $89,999 it covers 40%. Extra charges can apply, so call us before treatment.

Does the CDCP cover braces?

No. The Government of Canada states that orthodontic services are currently not available under the plan.

What happens if I forget to renew?

Members renew each year. If coverage lapses, dental care received during the gap is not covered or reimbursed afterward, so renew on time.
